SUMMARY:Domestic Abuse: Learning from Lived Experience Conference
DESCRIPTION:An event to explore the experiences of survivors of domestic abuse – working to tackle violence against women and girls as practitioners and survivors; exploring the real lived experience\, how interventions and individuals can make a difference and tools to help survivors recover from the trauma of domestic abuse. \nWe’re bringing together survivors and professionals from the Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) sector for an event in Bury St Edmunds – to explore how we can better support and care for survivors with lived experience. \n  \nWhat the event is about:\nThis free event is by and for survivors and professionals working across all areas of domestic and sexual violence services. Join us to explore how we can better support each other in domestic and sexual violence services so we can help survivors thrive. \nThis event will be about listening and learning from each other\, and giving  a safe space to have real conversations about the reality of domestic abuse and how services can best serve survivors and how we can lead this sector to make positive changes. \nYou’ll hear from some inspiring speakers\, and through meaningful discussions\, we’ll explore what has helped survivors and what hasn’t\, and how we can build a comprehensive supportive environment. \n  \nSpeakers:\nDavid Challen – Survivor\, Campaigner\, Author\nMark Murphy –  Survivor\, BBC Broadcaster and Host\nThe Skinny Poet – Survivor and Poet\nFay Greaves and Ash Bibi – “Traitors”\, Survivors and Campaigners\nBal Howard – Survivor\, Public Speaker and Trainer\nJeannie Bloomfield – Restore Patron\, Survivor and Patron\nCharlene Boyaram – Survivor and DA Services Supported\nRestore Adult and Young Ambassadors\n\nThis event marks 50th Anniversary of Restore Women’s Aid\, in a changing landscape\, that aims to combine community-led solutions and best practice\,  within an environment  where the health and wellbeing  of survivors are too often overlooked. The event will also celebrate the creativity and expression of survivors through poetry\, film\, and other mediums.
