Bury St Edmunds Pride 2026
Back again, even bigger and better, Bury St Edmunds Pride took place on Saturday 6th June and Restore WA were proud to be part of the day. Pride events take place in many towns and cities around the world and are an opportunity to highlight issues facing LGBTQ+ people and to celebrate the diversity of the community.
The day kicked off at 11am with a free, crafty banner making workshop at the Cathedral, with approximately 200 people including children and families, making banners and signs ahead of the procession.
At 12.30pm there was be a Pride procession of about 400 people from the Cathedral, up Angel Hill, past the Abbeygate Cinema and to the Theatre Royal, passing shops and businesses on the way.
From 1pm to 4pm there was a free entry marketplace event for all ages at the Theatre Royal. There was a range of community stalls and sellers, plus a yummy cake stall. A huge thank you to Restore WA for taking part in this. It was even busier than planned with about 500 people coming through the doors.
From 6.45pm doors opened for the evening celebrations at the Theatre, including singing, drag and comedy.
BSE Pride is run entirely by volunteers and is grateful to its sponsors for helping to make this event happen for the people of Bury St Edmunds and beyond.
Bury St Edmunds Pride could not happen without the generous support of our sponsors and supporters; Theatre Royal, Greene King, Eastern Education Group, Prism and St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
